While setting up for a sale recently, I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful gilt compote. Upon some research and collaboration with expert appraisers, we determined that the plate was from likely the Yongzheng period in China, from roughly the 1730s. It appears that the plate was restored in the early 20th century, which is when it was likely mounted as evidenced by the round head screws and long threaded bolts. None the less it’s an attractive looking mounted compote.
